David Klein, MD ’75 Recognized by AMA for Volunteerism

SUNY Downstate alumni David Klein, MD ’75, has been named a recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Medicine Awards, according to the an April 17, 2017 announcement from the American Medical Association.

“These awards honor physicians who represent the highest values of altruism, compassion and dedication to patient care,” according to the AMA. “These awards honor Physicians who represent the highest values of altruism, compassion and dedication to patient care. The caliber of our nominees was awe-inspiring.”

Dr. Klein’s selection “from such an impressive group speaks volumes in recognizing his dedication to the profession of medicine.”

As a recipient of an Excellence in Medicine Award, Dr. Klein will be honored at an awards ceremony and dinner at The Ivy Room on June 9 in Chicago, in conjunction with the American Medical Association’s Annual Meeting. The organization that Dr. Klein works with will also be awarded $2,500.

  1. I have professionally known dr Klein for 35 years as a fellow practicing ophthalmologist and I second his well deserved recognition. His dedication to patients and his volunteerism are unequaled in this day of medicine- business environment. He still makes me proud to be a Physcian and I am the better for knowing him
