Jan Fugal, MD ‘67, deceased
Dr. Fugal passed away June 27, 2010, in New Hampshire, at age 71, after a long illness. He was the husband of Nancy Jean Canfield Fugal. Dr. Fugal graduated from Yale in 1960, and SUNY Downstate in 1967. He also served on an LDS mission in Germany in 1960. He completed his pediatric internship and residencies at the Hospital of St. Raphael and at Yale-NH Hospital, including a fellowship in neonatology. Dr. Fugal served active duty in the US Army from 1970 to 1973 at Ft. Meade and later Ft. Richie, Maryland, reaching the rank of major. He established Eastshore Pediatrics, PC, in 1976 where he had an active practice until his recent illness.

Paul Silk, MD ‘67
Dr. Silk works part-time as associate professor of radiology at Albany Medical Center. He frequently works from home, but does go in to Albany from his Lake George home to give resident conferences. He is also responsible for first-year resident orientation.

Gary Rosenberg, MD ‘73
Dr. Rosenberg was profiled in NJ Spotlight May 25 for his work with a new program that has successfully paired child psychiatrists with pediatricians.

Michael T. Goldstein, MD ‘74
Dr. Goldstein was honored for his term as President of the New York County Medical Society, which finished at a June 7, 2016 ceremony. He is now a Trustee of the New York County Medical Society.

Marc Tobias, MD ’12
Dr. Tobias, a graduate of 2012 SUNY Downstate Medical Center, received a national award May 23, 2016, from the “Closing the Data Divide” challenge for his work in creating a new data platform, PHRASE. Dr. Tobias is a practicing Emergency Medicine physician at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and a Clinical Informatics Fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The awards will be formally presented at the Annual Faculty Development Conference and Faculty Awards Reception in September, 2016.
